A Short History of the Fair
The Klamath County Fair, established in 1902, has evolved from a small event for 4-H and Future Farmers of America members into a major community hub. Initially held sporadically and later gaining a permanent site in 1922, the fairgrounds have faced challenges such as the 1933 fire that destroyed its grandstands. Significant expansion occurred with the opening of a 93,000-square-foot event center in 2000, funded by a $4.5 million bond. Today, the fairgrounds host over 400 events annually, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors and serving as a vital part of Klamath County’s cultural and economic life.
